Shaman
I have always been interested in symbolism and have a deep connection with the Mayan culture, but seeing a Shaman in person really impressed me and as I continued my research on the meaning of their symbols and rituals, I wanted to create a piece that spoke to that magic and spirituality. My intent was to show that sweeping magic the Shaman gathers unto himself to share and bless his audience.
Shaman’s are chosen by their people, because they demonstrate healing abilities and spiritual insight They possess a deep connection to nature.
This piece is sold and I hope to someday visit in person. The original is 40” inches wide by 58” inches long.

Hydreanga
I love flowers. Any kind of flower. I am challenged by painting them but feel very rewarded to complete the work. This particular piece was challenging not only because of the plant itself, but also because I gave myself an awkward background to contend with on purpose. I am pleased with the results, I hope you are too.

Tiger, Tiger
The Tiger is one of my favorite animals. They are listed as endangered, and though they are coming back, the species remains severely threatened by habitat loss, fragmentation, and illegal poaching. I wanted to convey the loss that such an extinction would mean to our ecosystem.
By having the tiger fade to black and white in each frame, the viewer can feel that impact. We cannot lose animals to extinction, the balance in nature depends on every single species.
The title is a play on William Blake’s poem: “The Tyger”, I particularly love the first lines: “ “Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night.” - I imagine the stripes burning thru the jungle canopy.
